PALM SUNDAY 2017
Dear Brothers,
I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Blessed Holy Week! I know that we are all busy getting ready for this week’s liturgical services through our ministries. I want you to know that you are all in my prayers and that God may give you a gentle spirit to be with our people these most Holy Days. Please do not forget to spend time with your community members during these days.
I would like to leave you this passage from the Little Flowers of Saint Francis, Chapter 5, for your personal reflection:
GOD CALLED ST. FRANCIS AND HIS COMPANIONS AND CHOSE THEM TO BEAR THE CROSS OF CHRIST IN THEIR HEARTS AND TO PREACH IT IN WORD AND ACTION. THAT IS WHY THEY LOOKED LIKE AND WERE IN FACT CRUCIFIED MEN IN THEIR COMPORTMENT AND IN THEIR AUSTERE LIFE, IN DEEDS AND ACTIONS. AND THAT IS WHY THEY WANTED MORE TO RECEIVE THE SHAME AND INSULTS FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST THAN THE WORLD’S VAIN HONORS OR RESPECT OR PRAISE; AND THAT IS WHY THEY WERE SADDENED WHEN THEY WERE HONORED. AND SO THEY WENT THROUGH THE WORLD AS PILGRIMS AND STRANGERS, WITH CHRIST CRUCIFIED AS THEIR ONLY LUGGAGE.
